Ballet

Pre - School Ballet – from the age of 3, we offer a magical, creative class designed to teach the fundamentals of ballet by use of storytelling, imagination, lots of props and repetition. This is fully inclusive for both boys and girls and an excellent introduction to movement at this young age.

From here, pupils progress into our Pre-Primary class when they start school.  We follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Syllabuses up to the top level of Advanced 2.  The Royal Academy of Dance is one of the world’s most influential dance education and training organisations and the one which we honestly believe offers the best possible programme for ballet at both a recreational and vocational level.

The graded syllabus – Pre-Primary to Grade 8 – provides a broad, practical dance education and develops technical, musical and performance skills.  The vocational examinations – Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2 – are by invite only, as a higher level of ability and commitment is needed due to the fact that these provide an in-depth study of ballet and prepare students for a career in dance.

Graded and vocational examinations in Dance at RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework) Level 3 are allocated points on the UCAS Tariff.  This means that candidates who have achieved a pass or higher in Grades 6,7, 8, Intermediate and Advanced Foundation can use their RAD exam result towards their points tariff when applying to University or Higher Education in the UK.

Modern and Tap

We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) tap and modern exams from Primary through to Advanced 2.  We offer these classes from school age upwards and they are a great way to have fun, start to tap, learn some funky modern moves, and have a bit more freedom than with ballet.  Either taken alongside or totally separately from ballet, why not give them a try to see if you like them.

Contemporary

This is the latest discipline to be added to our timetable following the introduction last year by the ISTD of a contemporary syllabus which aims to introduce students to the fundamentals and Vocabulary of Contemporary technique and performance through specially created solos. Contemporary is fantastic compliment to classical training or in its own right, ensuring our dancers are well rounded and ready for today’s industry.  As from September 2020 we have 2 levels on offer from age 10 upwards.

Private Coaching

This is available to any student for competition coaching, exam coaching, audition coaching, general confidence, or on a weekly basis for the more Elite dancer.

Please note, Examinations are optional and, while this is something we encourage for the sense of achievement, those who choose to opt out of this process will still move up and remain with their class provided they have reached the required standard.

Just Dance

Exactly what it says on the tin – a non syllabus, no uniform, high energy, fun class for anyone who wants to “Just Dance”. A really popular option for those looking for something a bit less formal than our exam based classes.

Adult Ballet

Did you dance as a child and hang up your ballet shoes when life became too busy? Are you a beginner who fancies giving it a try? Whatever your reason, we would love to see you at our adult ballet classes. We laugh, we exercise, we improve our strength, posture, co-ordination and flexibility and we use our brains. Come along and see what we are all about.

Silver Swans

Our Silver Swans are living proof that is it never too late to do something you enjoy. These classes, designed for the older amongst us, are a fabulous way to improve balance, strength, co-ordination, flexibility and posture, whilst making new friends and laughing along the way. The research proves that dancing is so good for us later in life and these classes really will benefit you in so many ways.

I started training at Bristol Ballet Centre at 4 years old! Beginning my dance training with ballet once a week, I gradually started more and more classes and soon I was doing Modern, Ballet, Elite and Eisteddfods. Bristol Ballet Centre has taught me, not only technique and performance skills, but teamwork and manners. Dancing with BBC was a massive part of my growing up and bought me so much joy! I look back at my time in Bristol Ballet Centre with a heart full of love and I am so grateful that I was encouraged to train further and create a future in Musical Theatre. After completing ‘A’ levels I started a 3-year Musical Theatre Diploma at Italia Conti, graduating in the summer of 2020. While training at Italia Conti some credits have been ‘Sally Bowles’ in our Graduate Showcase, ‘Meg March’ in Little Women and ‘Marilyn Monroe’ in Smash. I am a passionate and hard-working performer and I want to thank all the teachers at BBC for encouraging me since day one. I’m very excited to graduate and for my future within the arts industry.
